Poetry Is No Place For A Heart Whore

Reading Time: < 1 minute

There’s nothing like poetry in this world my love
Just a love letter lost in the mailbox and read by millions
Who try to relate and continue to disperse it
In the hope it will get to you
Before they realize that they too have been here before

There’s nothing like poetry in this world Mon amour
Just a fragile heart that remained silent
And ran to the paper and ink
In writing
We found our solace
With the magic of the paper and ink
We found refuge
For the intimacies our hearts carried
And bottled up all these years
Every line
Stanza
Bleeding like the ink
Reminding us

There’s nothing like poetry in this world mi armor
Just unvocalized syllables
Just failed movements of our lips and tongues
The only expression available
Just a beating heart
Faster than before
Louder than ever
Neurons mating with electrons
Fire dancing around the ice
Ink mating with paper
Just ellipsis to breathe
Commas to listen
To this untold yet familiar story

And still little love, don’t call this poetry
It’s no place for a heart whore
