Looking

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Across the street
Walking with your two friends
You seemed lost in a crowd
Folded yours arms on your chest
Your face intuitive

I looked
And you looked
And when I looked back
You were looking

That never happened to me before
Woman when I was struck by your visage
More than mesmerized
You were perplexed by
Your own reaction
Our stares
Back and forth
Glued me to the
Novelty of your existence

I looked
And you looked
And when I looked back
You were looking

The brevity of human life
Or that of a moment
You left me with a fissure
And now my mind fights
The image of your soft face

I looked
And you looked
And when I looked back
You were looking

Your friends
Noticed I was looking
And you were looking
Threw me shots
If eyes were bullets
This poem would exist not
Their stares toppled my trunk
Still

I looked
And you looked
And when I looked back
You were looking
